Bruce Gilden’s new book marks a significant move away from the wide-angle close up portrait style that has served him well over a number of decades.

If anything the new images look like they could have come via the Dusseldorf school of typological studies as developed by the Bechers and follows a number of books from luminaries such as Todd Hido and Eugene Richards that have looked at similar areas of concern reflecting the economic crisis brought about through prime mortgage selling etc.
